Life with Cody & other projects...

So far the last 2 weeks have been great with Cody.  She is really good and adjusting to life well here at Casa Campo.  We have had some mishaps with her, but she's a puppy so it happens.  For one thing, we have had to remove all of our shoes from the family room.  She has eaten one of Olivia's brand new, worn only once, sandals.  I am currently wearing my brand new flip-flops that arrived in the mail today because she ate my last pair.  

See how cute she is?  I should take her with me later when I bring my check-book with me to the library because she ate the back cover of one of their BRAND NEW books.  She likes new shiny things we are discovering.  Maybe they'll feel bad for me, but I doubt it.  Remember my bench that I repainted?  She's chewed on that too.  So rude!  

But other than that, she's great!  The kids love her, she gets along well with the other dogs in the neighborhood that she has met, but she consistently barks at 2 neighbors, which, I am sorry to say, just can't be helped.........

In other news, I am reading The Great Gatsby again for book-club.  I read it in my senior year of high school (or maybe junior???) and I loved it.  I am still working on my new sweater.  I just had my third knitting class today, and I LOVE IT.  The people you meet at a yarn shop are awesome!  So interesting, so nice, so wise.  I will learn a lot from them I'm sure.  Can you please admire with me the ribbing on this sweater?  Never knew I could learn that!  I can't recommend Allison at Yarn's End enough!

This is my newest project.  I bought this metal cabinet last week.  I have already sanded it down, cleaned it, and primed a few tough areas.  I'm going to start painting it soon.  It will be new housing for Joseph & Olivia's school papers.  Do you think it will work?  Probably not, but I'm trying it anyway.  You can't tell from the photo, but the cabinet is slightly taller than me.

Small Town Memorial Day Parade

There are quite a few things that are awesome about a small town parade.  One is that nearly half the town walks in it, and another thing is that most of the other half comes out to watch.

These two were so happy getting ready to leave for the parade.

Towards the end of the parade there are several stops where the Boy Scouts salute, one of them is an Unknown Soldier.

The parade ended at Town Hall where several speakers spoke and the high school marching band played some more tunes.  

It was a great morning.

Overwhelming Cuteness

This morning the first grade held a Memorial Day concert.  I can't tell you how much cuteness there was in that room, you just had to be there.

The kids all sang their little hearts out, even when they didn't know the words.  I have plenty of that on video.  There was even a couple of slide shows.  Loved every minute of this concert.

I need to learn how to use my camera indoors without flash.  

Life Will Never Be the Same Again

Today

This morning started out with spelling and history review for the two third grade exams today.

My knitting is coming along.  I can't believe I waited so long to take classes!!!!  I can't wait for my next class on Wednesday!!!

We've been getting ready for someone new around here...

Second coat of Blue Springs by Ben. Moore, but let me tell you:  there is no blue in here.  It's gray. And I'm OK w/that.  

Finally got Joseph new bedding for his room.  Been looking forever.  I love almost everything for boys in Pottery Barn Teen, but I do not love the prices.  What are they thinking?  Doesn't anyone on their staff have boys?  Where do they think these bedspreads end up every single day: ON THE FLOOR, that's where.  Don't need to spend their prices for what will be trampled on.  Hello Marshalls!!!!

Took Joseph to Scouts.  It was held at the town dump today.

Lastly, picked up this happy girl from a birthday party.  There was a jumpy with a slide.  Enough said.

Playing with the neighbor.  They're still out there.  God love daylight savings time.

Knitting 101

This Wednesday I will begin my knitting class.  Finally.  I just want to knit one big blanket and a sweater, it that too much to ask?I've been thinking of signing up for a few months now & last week

I got my act together and pulled into the driveway of the yarn shop and signed up.  

I took basic lessons from a friend about 10 years ago, but after I made a couple of scarves and a baby blanket, I quit.  
I tried picking it up again, and even had to use a You Tube video, and it got the job done, but I think I need a professional.

You see that book in the photo?  I bought it 10 years ago.  I don't understand ONE WORD written in it.  I'm hoping on Wednesday I will be enlightened.
